Hi everyone. I'm new. Haven't started yet as I'm still in search of a vehicle but have learned alot from others videos and am hoping to one day join the nomads on the road.
Welcome Red Lion to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.
Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.
I don’t wanna push it before you’re ready. But the majority Of nomads say they wish they had started sooner. That doesn’t mean you go up off half cocked before you’re ready, just something to think about. I Had a friend that used to quote this rhyme. “Sitting still and Wishing made no person great; the good Lord sends the fish in, but honey, you got to get the bait.” Don’t do anything rash, but don’t do nothing.
I put off getting going for a long time as well. Other people ran my life, they wanted me to continue investing in a religion i was part of. save that time for your happiness.
Car living is fun as well, if that is what you have. Try before you buy into the life wholesale!
@naturelover and @plasticplatforms, thanks so much for the advice and encouraging words! It's actually not that I'm really hesitating, it's more that I don't quite have resources yet to get started. I actually saw a vehicle today that would meet my needs but I don't quite have enough money saved to get it yet, and it may be gone by the time I do. I'm actually quite eager and excited to start, but without an adequate functioning vehicle I can't get out there yet. I'm hoping to soon! @roamerrv428 thank you as well for the encouragement. !
Saving money so you can pay cash for a rig makes a lot of sense to me. Because of my health issues I couldn’t wait any longer Because I might not live that long. I borrowed 3000 from a friend with no interest “ thankfully“ he said he doesn’t get much interest from the bank so he might as well help me with that. I wish I would’ve had money to do it on my own but I couldn’t wait. Now in addition to making the van payments I have to put a little bit away from my emergency fund every month. If something would happen before I have a good emergency fun I’d have to go back to that man and borrow again. But thankfully I’m three months ahead paying it off - sort of like a little emergency fund isn’t it.
