This one isn't on the road yet, but the concept is cool. Too high a price tag for me and too generic for my DIY ecletic spirit, but still drool worthy. Pics: http://www.wired.com/2009/01/verdier-reinven/ They must be using sturdy stuff for the raising roof since it's got solar on top of it.

There's a video of a Promaster concept conversion van that I saw as well but I didn't think to save the link. It's all electronic for moving the bed and the poptop and such.

Very cool looking, but it's just a drawing from 6 years ago that never even made it to the prototype stage.

There's no room underneath for any type of engine, suspension or hybrid battery. Magic awnings that come out of nowhere, poptop supporting a solar panel and both awnings without any sort of mechanism to hold it up.

Yep, cute design exercise, without considering the realities of USING it! And forget getting off pavement with that low ground clearance.

Ha Ha Ha! :p I was just saying something this morning about someone who posted something on fb from 3 years ago---guess I should have had my glasses on. It sure looked real without them. Maybe it's a Barbie van. LOL

The Promaster conversion is real though, but not as electronic as I thought I remembered. It's from Reimo in the UK which is why I didn't save the link. I found it again and lost it because my internet is sporadic today.

I try to stay as far away from all the electronic gadgetry as I can get. Just more stuff to break and require expensive repairs.

I've seen $200k+ 2 year old motorhomes sell for a song because of electronics issues.

Not that I could or would afford one like it, but I was glad when I saw it again that it wasn't so electronic. I think the pop top might have been but they have manual ones of those---not that I'd want one since they can't hold much solar. That's one reason conversion vans are out for me---I just basically want a metal tent on wheels with room for my simple stuff and my connections to the world---computer/phone.
