We've had threads here about going to Mexico for dental care, and for eyeglasses, as well as buying prescription drugs.

And we've all heard of people going south of the border for operations.

This got me wondering about using a Mexican Veterinarian for treating a sick pet while saving money.  I can't recall anyone here mentioning doing so.

Here's a little stuff I've found trying to research this:

The main problem probably wouldn't be finding a veterinarian as much as getting your pet back into this country, as mentioned before. But with current (and legible) rabies and health certificates, I can't see that it would be much of a problem. UNLESS the dog had a contagious disease -- that might be trouble.

But I just looked for a vet clinic in Los Algodones, and am not finding one. There may be one called the Safari Vet Clinic, but they don't have a website.

Maybe the professionals that Americans go to in Mexico could refer someone who is good, and speaks English.

Personally, I would shy away from Tijuana, but that's just me.
