I'm one of those who 'came home' to Verizon and, despite all the great-sounding promotion, I find my monthly bills to be always more than I thought they would be, which is why I left them before.

Exactly my thoughts!

I'm dropping ALL cell phone and data and relying on emergency 911 calls from an unactivated phone and wifi from restaurants for my communications needs.

Ideally I'd like to NOT have a cell phone at all and NOT use the internet.

That would be ideal but phone contact with my mother and my kids is very important to me.  [Well, I guess I could rely on snail mail...].  Don't give up the internet, 66788! We'd miss you!   :sleepy:
