Whoaaa -- not good!

I loved the detail that they normally scrapped those things when they reached 400,000 miles -- can you even imagine how worn-out a Fedex truck with 400k miles would be?

But hey -- here's a cool way to get a few more dollars out of them (y)

These Trucks are considered "Capital Equipment" and can be written off
their Taxes over 5 years. Then if they continue to fleet them they can write off the gasoline/diesel fuel that they use every day that they are in service. They could sell them cheap but.......Nooooooo

I'm wondering if the reason for tampering with the odometer is to get a higher resale price, or.....if there are laws (that I don't know about) that govern the sales of very high mileage commercial vehicles and highway safety ? Thus the tampering is to evade those laws and make it look like there is still some usability left in the vehicle to an individual buyer.
