Hey, there.  I'm Josh.  I just moved to Brooklyn from Japan and I've been entertaining the idea of vanlife for about a year now.  My job/location didn't allow for entry into the lifestyle in Japan but now that I'm stateside things seem much more attainable.  I actually have no van or RV yet but I'm hitting the internet hard trying to find something.  In any case, this is just another one of those introduction threads to most of you but hopefully I'll have something to show within a few weeks.

BTW, I'm also a motorcycle rider and need to build something which will house a smaller 2-wheel toy + weekend camping setup.  I'm nowhere near ready for a full-time live-in RV right now but I want to start off small with some weekend trips.  Anyone that is in the area or can point me in the right direction for some good deals on vans or RVs would be appreciated.  I look forward to interacting with you guys at some point.  Thanks!

Welcome as I am on the Left coast not much help for you but someone will chime in .

Thanks for the responses, so far! I've locked on to what I think will be a worthy investment but I'm torn between two ideas. I'm new to Brooklyn and the city life and I'm trying to decide whether or not an Express 3500 Extended would be too much van for this. I haven't even found a permanent place to live yet, so I'm just not sure if I should press the button yet. Regular size or extended size? This is where I'm at right now. I just don't know if an extended van will be smart for these tight streets and a-hole drivers.

Hi Josh, Manhattanite here. Welcome to the other side of the world from Japan!

I will send you a Private Message with some ideas for you about rigs in our area, so look for it.
It's the bright blue box with the closed envelope on it, located on upper left side of screen.

Unless Brooklyn has changed a lot since 1970-80s, parking a van on the street will be a problem. Tight spaces, graffiti, vandalism, people using their bumpers, instead of mirrors, when they maneuver into a parking space.

You're not in Japan anymore.

Welcome to America and CRVL.
