I purchased a GL.iNET GL-MT300N-V2 Wireless Mini Portable Travel Router at the suggestion of forum members. Got to the point of Set up Router and then get message:
 This site can’t be reached
192.168.8.1 took too long to respond.

I sent message to manufacturer and have received no response.

At this point I am considering this device to be a dud and am looking at other devices.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking at this one right now https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Wire...x=rv+mobile+hot,aps,454&sr=8-33

Had you connected to it via wireless before bringing up the setup? Just trying to think if there’s any missing steps

You get that error when trying to go to the web admin panel?
Just to verify, you're connecting to the SSID indicated on the bottom with password "goodlife"?
If you're just putting in the address as shown in your post, try putting in http://
Then also try 192.168.8.1/index
And finally try https://

But it looks like you may not be connected to it's WiFi, or it may be a defective unit.

It continues to show strong signal, but no internet connection.

please when you quote a post, type your response outside of the quote box. it's very confusing if you type inside the quote box. thanks highdesertranger

I hit the reset botton for 10 seconds as directed.

I tried the set up steps from step 1.

It does not connect to the internet. It has two of the lights on, but not the middle one.

I went through the same thing more than once. Connect your device (I'm using a Chromebook) only to the router. Make sure nothing else is already connected to your hotspot. The hotspot on your phone can only connect one device at a time as you know. Turn everything else off if you have to.

When you're in the web interface, click on wifi repeater. I don't remember exactly what else is on that page but click on saved networks. From there, scan, find the hotspot and enter the password for your phone's hotspot and it should join.

I hope this helps. Last night the damn thing was driving me crazy. Today it worked as it should. I just typed this out from memory so I hope it's correct

I just updated the above. The device you're using should be connected to the router not the hotspot.

Thank you for your advice.
You're welcome. Last night my phone restarted itself and I lost the internet connection via the router I couldn't get into the control panel at all. Today it connected no problem. It's a buggy little *******

My visible phone has been restarting lately...several times in the last few weeks. That is a first since I have had this for a year.

I think they sent out an update. It will restart your phone to finish the install. Usually fries to do it in "off" or low use hours.

Yippie! I finally got this router to work. Thanks to everyone who helped me.

One last question to everyone: Do you use Antivirus protection with this VPN or do you think this VPN is sufficient by itself?
