I notice on Bob van he has some fair size tires and  with thick tread and as I am doing my research for my van could someone tell me what are the best type of tires to have ?

Ditto on the E rated tires, not so much on the aggressive tread - though they do have a certain look.

I really like my General Grabber A/T 2 tires on my Excursion, and Jeep Liberty. There is virtually no road noise, and they seem to last a long time, with good all season traction. They are also some of the cheapest priced load range E tires available.
