I bought the tank new from u haul about a couple months ago. I have not had it filled but it is not low on fuel because we only use it to run our Coleman stove via a 5 foot buddy hose. The tank is still heavy.

When I go to light it I get a weak flame that fizzles out pretty quick. What's weird it's it will run from the 1# disposable tanks no problem. Also it ran from the 20#tank no problem for at least a month. I have checked the system thoroughly with soapy water and found no leaks.

What the hell is going on!?

you are only running one regulator right? the one on the stove? if are only running one regulator it sounds like the safety feature on the tank valve that restricts propane flow if there is a leak is not working correctly or you have a bad hose. try this hook everything up try to light your stove. if it fails, turn the stove off, then turn the tank off, then open the valves on the stove, wait like 20 seconds and close the stove valves. then open the tank valve you should hear a whoosh of propane fill the system and a click from the valve on the tank. try to light the stove. what happens? did you hear the click? let us know. highdesertranger

I have done that. I hear the propane woosh into the house every time. Then it will light almost normal and then fade out to nothing after a couple seconds.

Also yes, one regulator. If I turn off the stove then the tank then turn the tank back on I hear the woosh but no click. About half the time this seems to get my stove working again but then I turn it off and have the same problem. I bought my house at Walmart but threw away the packaging. Do you think they will still exchange it if I tell them it's defective?

When you turn on the gas to the stove, can you HEAR the gas coming out of the burner? My guess is you have something blocking the hose or orifice.

I tend to agree. I had a similar result from a different arrangement, but it is analogous.

Once I put a regulator on the 20 lb tank, and then just a normal buddy hose to either the Buddy Heater or the Coleman stove. My results with both devices matched yours almost exactly -- may or may not start normally, but never continues, dying out quite quickly.

The moral of the story is that the regulator at my tank was acting as an unintended obstruction which reduced the gas flow and pressure. Even though you said you don't have another regulator other than the one in the stove, some other obstruction could be causing a result that looks like yours.

Bad or improper regulator.?
The pop-up had a high pressure stove inside and a low pressure stove out.
One tank, two regulators.

dirt and spider webs can also clog up the flow.
I've had a lot of spiders build a web in the grill.

It ran for a month on that tank...ok...gotta ask...

Are you SURE it has propane in it?

Pick up the tank and rock it back and forth...do you feel some liquid sloshing around?
