Here is what I normally use to cook with Treager Ranger Tailgating Smoker. Weights about 65lbs, and runs on 110v, I use a 500 watt inverter to power it. takes about 12 amps to start it but it only takes a few minutes to start and then it uses about 2 amps to run it.

I use little furniture shims to level it with so the grease docent run everywhere, has a little bucket on the back to collect the grease. Comes a grate for things like hotlinks, or hotdogs.

To clean it I use a small battery powered vacuum to clean out the ashes.

interesting. let me see if I understand this.

so the electric heats up the pellets and once they get going then a fan circulates the smoke and heat?

where does the burn take place?
right under the griddle? or
when you use the griddle that's a separate burn chamber?
just trying to figure it out. you might have to give me a personal demo. LOL

I have a small Weber Jumbo Joe with a Cajun Bandit smoker attachment. but it will not pass muster in a burn ban so I can only use it in the winter. I wonder if the Traeger will pass.

There is a 'hot rod' in the bottom that lights the pellets, after it lights the fire is maintained by the auger that feeds the pellets. The fan blows air into the fire and keeps the fire going.

Its basically a wood fired oven, I can bake with it as well. And I have a cake pan I use to make sausage gravy in.

I'll try some pictures in a bit.

Here are the pictures inside. If you look closely you can see the Hot Rod in the lower left corner.

Also you can see how I added an outside water connection to the outside, so I can do dishes.

Well ain't that slick!

One of the cool things about hanging out in Q is the 'show and tell' aspect....everyone has one or two nifty gadgets they wanna show off....

(and NO i'm not talking about the Magic Circle!)

:p

I'm all for easy and simple. I just use a good BBQ grill brush to clean it with, the other I don't like about is the grill plate is rough, eggs and bread like to stick on it.

I set up the Kill-A-Watt meter today to see what is really does use.

And to start it, it will pull about 225 watts. With the fan and auger running it is pulling about 45 watts, and with just the fam running it is pulling about 25 watts.

So a 300 watt Invertor would be enough to run it.

Thats even better than I think, I was basing my other results on how much it was affecting the Stunt amperage.

My RV guests last weekend here at Winford Station had a Traeger like  yours...they cooked several meals over the 3 days and I was able to sample some...wow...it sure was good...especially the smoked sausage...which btw they bought across the street at the local meat market.

Yumm!
