Hi all...........
This may be useless to post, but I am in need of a travel buddy. I recently had a stroke and at 62 years of age, I guess this is not uncommon. I just need someone to cook meals...........the rest is taken care of. It's sort of an insurance policy in case I have problems and need assistance to the hospital. I refuse to give up traveling, seeing stuff, going places and doing things. It was a mild stroke and I take medication through the VA. I can walk, talk and think as before, just a bit awkward with my left hand. I really don't want to be a burden to anyone and find it difficult to depend on others. I'm just a stubborn old man and don't want to give up this lifestyle, but I'm afraid of something happening out here and won't be able to help myself. I'm not afraid to die and what better place to die than out in the desert, I'm just not ready to go. We can quickly become friends and all I have is respect, honor, and a paycheck. I am a retired auto mechanic still able to do repairs although I may need a HAND........lol. I would not interfere with your personal life and you may quit at any time. I'm looking for a female to have fun and adventure with, go places and do stuff. Who knows, perhaps we can solve the lonely part. text, pm or email me if interested. I'm beginning to think this is a crazy request as most vandwellers travel alone....lol. Well, I am hoping to make the RTR and can't wait to see old friends. This may be a good time to camp together and get to know each other. After the RTR, I have choices to make, continue to travel and explore, living in my van, settle down in AZ somewhere by myself in a stick and brick or head east to live out the rest of my life with my daughter and grandkids.......freezing my ass off in NY state. A bold request, I know.

Hey Mike,

It is not a crazy request, and actually a good idea for some of us to kind of stick together.

I have a couple of months before I will be on the road again.  I am still having trouble walking after the infection I picked up in Ehrenberg.

RTR will be the place to set up a concrete travel buddy meeting.

John.

Not crazy at all. Margie is a great help for me, tho I prefer to do the cooking. Besides being a companion, she saves me lots of effort by lending a hand when needed.

I hope you find a compatible travel companion soon.
Looking forward to seeing you at RTR.

I would be interested in discussing this further! pm me

Good Luck! I hope to be able to take a few days off and come down for a visit during the next RTR.

Good attitude to have under the circumstances and it will only help. Just 2 thoughts for what it is worth. If possible have the emergency number ready to push on your cell phone. Second I hope you find someone with physical strength because they are better equipped to prevent or minimize a fall and more able to pick you up after a fall. I work with the handicapped and elderly and one of the most prevalent problems is injuries sustained in a fall.

I hope you do well and glad to hear it was a minor stroke.

Von Brown is a very good man, and I'm proud to call him a friend of mine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that you apply for the position if it would work for you.

Von Brown I wish only the best for you, and hope you find someone. highdesertranger

I'm in Quartzsite now and it's good to see old friends, who have chosen to come early. I'm making do in my van and the fear has subsided and my confidence is growing and this might just work out. Thanks for listening and feel free to stop by and say hello!

Hey Vonbrown,

Hopefully you found someone to travel with but even so, if I can make it to RTR (unsure if I can yet) I am glad to help you out as much as I can with cooking and whatever you may need. I am also trained as an EMT-IV so in an emergency I can help til help arrives. It's no shame to need a little help. Any one of us could be in the same situation tomorrow and need help too.

I believe in karma. Helping others comes back to you one way or the other. I will be sure to introduce myself if I make it and let whoever is with you (and those camped close to you) know where to find me if you have a problem that I can help with. No obligation in return. I usually keep an emergency jump bag with me for the basic emergency within my scope of training and legality to do so.

I am not licensed for AZ so I would just be a good Samaritan lending a hand so don't sue me for helping you in a medical emergency is all I ask in return :)

Best wishes on a full recovery from your stroke - Dana

I will be in early next year.  I love to cook, and that gives me a reason to start moving in the morning.  See you at RTR.

Hey Mike, looking forward to seeing your mug again -- and if someone gets you looking at their rig issues, you know I will be happy (to at least try) to turn wrenches for you!

Sassy

I would not turn down sassy's offer to turn a wrench for you, from what i have learned she is more than adequate. Liberated I might add and a great listener

Thank you Sassy.....you were very helpful last year......looking forward to working with you again!
