Does anybody travel coast to coast frequently, and if so or even if not, do you take photos (digital or in analog form)? Any good ones that you would care to share? Any good places to visit?

Hi, Chance,
I think you've asked a very broad question that would be a bit complicated to answer. I know some folks on the forum have mentioned having made a few east coast to west coast trips.

I think you'd have to narrow it down by which season you'd be traveling in. For instance, I-40's general route has the Grand Canyon (and lots of boondocking in the forests arouand Flagstaff). But you may not want to go there is you are traveling in January. I-10 would likely be more comfy and safe.

There's a current thread on here about a road trip following the old Route 66. Very fun and quirky small towns and photos of museums and retro signs. See Route 66 Roadtrip.

My favorite state for warm months is Montana, and I am fond of Hwy 12 going east to west (though, yes, the eastern part is a LOT of high plains).

I tend not to take as many photos as I used to. Instead taking "heart photos" - but many on here do landscape photography as a hobby.

I just picked up a book called "Road Trip USA" (Jamie Jensen) that shows several routes across the US (east-west & north-south) using only two-lane highways, no expressways.
It's become my wish book, and I hope to do all 11 drives eventually.  Loads of quirky attractions and historical sites.

I don't take pictures, as a rule of thumb. I also don't carry a cell phone. When I travel, I don't even access the Internet for days at a time. I don't use a GPS either, by the way.

I've also found that I often meet the greatest people in the most boring, featureless "flyover country" regions of these United States. The spectacular naturally scenic areas are all too often crowded with noisy tourists and obnoxious litterbug vacationers.

Here's a picture that I took for my mom back in October. Of course I am no longer in the vicinity.

Foreground: Conway Scenic Railroad. Focus: Gateway to the Notch, Elephant's Head rock formation. Background: Mt Webster and Crawford Notch
