Hi folks. I looked around for an answer to this already, but didn't see anything.

What's the scoop on old vintage trailers and titles? I'm guessing it's the same as when buying a car, no title, no buy....thoughts?

It depends...
Some states don't care if the trailer is over a certain age.
You may also get away with declaring it a "homemade trailer" as is done in Arizona a lot.
It also depends on what type of trailer it is. A cargo trailer can easily be licensed without a title. They get stolen all the time here.
It also really depends on who is selling it to whom, and if the seller is willing to create a bill of sale, and have it notarized.
You may want to ask the seller why there is no title, and if there is a purchase history they can relate, other wise maybe walk away.
You may also try asking the local MVD and give details, even the VIN if you can actually read it on the tongue. They may be able to trace it.
If the seller is willing to take it with you to the MVD for an inspection, that may help you get a title, maybe even a salvage title.
It Depends...

Zonie is right.  You need to check with the Motor Vehicle people in the state you plan to register it in.  If you think you might switch down the road to a state like SD or TX, you'll want to check there as well to make sure you'll have no problems at that point.

Thanks for the input. The trailer in question turned out to be in much worse condition than I initially thought so it's a no go anyway but the no title thing got me thinking about that. Thanks!

My two cents
If you're talking an actual RV, no registration no sale
Sure, you can buy a Travel Trailer and park it on land without one, but since you're looking for something to get around in,. not sit in one spot, you want something in 'traveing' condition,. ad an RV that isn't registered isn't being moved around, so is most likely not in 'traveling' condition
At very least it should be registered to the person selling it
