I consider myself somewhat immune to commerical, well designed car campers, but this one, from the isle of wight (UK) blew my mind. 50 miles per gallon. FIFTY. Seat/table, bed, sink and two burner stove. Why, oh why, dear God, is no equivalent on this side of the pond? Company used to be in the boat making business, and it shows. Makes sense as the isle of wight and the solent are major boating areas in the UK.<br /><br />Watch:<br /><br />

id give it "thumbs up" if my smiles still worked! As long as people continue to pay $250k and up for McMansio.s on wheels, sadly, it will never make it here. We have motorcycles with more than 1.3 ltr 70 hp engine this thing has to feed our need of going fast on the highway. Also, it would not make it here because it makes sense!

still looking for the smallest size, with a working shower. This is not it.

<br /><strong style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;">Not so sure about actually LIVING in it, but for road trips &amp; camping, that thing would be GREAT! <img src="/images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif" alt="" align="absmiddle" border="0" />&nbsp;(IMO)&nbsp;<br /><br /></strong>

makes me want to emigrate to the UK !!!&nbsp;<img src="/images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif" alt="" align="absmiddle" border="0" /><br /><br />just for fun, I looked up the price &amp; converting from British Pounds, the cost for this vehicle in American Dollars is <strong style="color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: medium; white-space: nowrap;">$37,238.10</strong>

<p>I am a UK citizen by birth, and makes me want to move back. I've done a little more research and it is very expensive, this model. The company makes a host of very innovative campers, check out their website.<br />Gas is monstrously expensive in the UK compared to the USA, upwards of 7-8 bucks per gallon, largely due to massive taxes on "petrol". Those kinds of taxes would never be tolerated in the US without creating an armed insurrection. Upside of car living in the UK is the whole of the UK can fit into Texas several times over, so there wouldn't be the vast distances to cross that there are in the USA. Downside: 65 million people live on that island, so its pretty crowded, except up in Scotland and some parts of Wales and northern England.<br /><br />To the poster who wanted an indoor shower....in a car that's going to be tough (seen it done but it seems uncomfortable), in a truck camper or van, less so. My ideal vehicle living situation would be a pop up fourwheel, allterrain or phoenix truck camper on a Toyota Tacoma. These are aluminum framed campers, very lightweight. Most do not have room for an indoor shower or bathroom, but that can be easily remedied with a porta potty or luggable loo and a plastic tote with a shower curtain and a "bug sprayer" type shower. Check out the wander the west (dot com) forums for numerous examples of how members have created workable indoor bathrooms for themselves. New these campers are quite expensive, but you can find used campers much cheaper sometimes on craigslist etc.</p>

Not even close for a full time vehicle for me, even at 50 mpg...

5:35 demonstrates water and some storage.&nbsp; But yeah, id use the passenger seat floor area too.&nbsp; The compartment he pulled the table leg out of looks large too for storage.

Their r20lo model doesnt look <em>too</em> much bigger and i think it has the shower <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" alt="" align="absmiddle" border="0" />&nbsp; Maybe minivan size as opposed to scion sized <img src="/images/boards/smilies/rofl.gif" alt="" align="absmiddle" border="0" /><br /><br />http://www.romahome.com/model-range/romahome-r20lo

I love small, efficient use of space but am afraid that is even too small for me. Maybe move it up to Hond Element or Subaru Outback sized and I would be sold. I really dug the little hatch/roof-insert campers that Saab has in Europe.

In the VanDwellers Yahoo group there are photos of a Geo Metro someone converted into a little sleeping traveler. He also built a little tear drop trailer that he tows behind it. I forget exactly what he said his MPG was but it was comparable to this Citroen...except his Geo was super CHEAP!

Magentawave, I think you are referring to Sandy and he is likely to have that rig at the RTR next month. He often comes to Quartzsite during that time of year to help a friend of his run his booth.....<br />Bri

I could live in it quite comfortably, and that fuel economy is nothing to sneeze at. I'd probably leave the bed out full time, maybe even replace the foam with a single piece and put sheets on it. Being 6'1" I'd also be looking for ways to move the seat back because I'm fairly certain I'd never get used to it.

Nonetheless, a 1.3L diesel isn't likely to make it to North America any time soon. The Big Three have pretty much seen to that.

Thanks for posting, it sure is a pretty rig.

Magentawave...&nbsp; Small cars can tow some thing?&nbsp; How do I find out about this?<br>kidie

Join the Vandwellers Yahoo group and go to the photo section for that group. Sure small cars can tow stuff as long as its light and aerodynamic. His is a little super light tear drop that he built himself. Check it out.

At Huntsville state park saw a Ford mini van ( think it's called a transit connect or something) that someone was camping in. Wasn't able to get a close look but I think he had semi converted the interior. He was I think there for a couple of days and I didn't notice a tent so he must have slept in his minivan. This is not the full size van coming later but the minivan that's been here a year or two. This little Ford van didn't appear to be much larger than the van in the video.

I found this image of the<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> <a href="" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Mini Wild Goose Camper</a></span>&nbsp;he talks about in the video...<br><br>It is so cool!&nbsp;<br><br>another<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> <a href="" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">view</a></span>&nbsp;of it outside<br><br>and one of it<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> <a href="http://www.motor-klassik.de/bilder/reise-wildgoose-goose-mobil-1233350.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">rollin'</a></span>&nbsp;down a beach side road. Their exterior shots are really creative.<br>-k-
