I bought a battery today. It has L-type terminals. It didn't come with any hardware (bolts/nuts/washers). It looks like they normally come with Silicon Bronze hardware.

1 - Is it important to use Silicon Bronze? Will some other more readily available material work just as well for very nearly as well?
2 - If I do need Silicon Bronze, where can I buy them?

I would use copper / brass fittings, and Stainless Steel bolts.

Acquiring silicon bronze bolts can only hurt the wallet.  Kind of overkill in a non marine environment on an AGM battery, but overkill=warm and fuzzy, for some.

Ace Hardware usually has a good fastener section.

Thick walled ring terminals properly crimped is more important than the bolt holding the lug tightly to the battery stud.

silicon bronze is used in marine applications because it is highly resistant to corrosion in salt air. highdesertranger

All the batteries I have seen with studs use stainless steel nuts, washers and studs. It is important that the nuts and bolts are used to hold the wire terminal against the lead of the battery. No washers between the connection. I use Battery Pb terminal against the wire terminal, held with SS flat washer to SS lock washer to SS nut torqued to 100 inch-pounds. My battery has studs, so you have to use a SS bolt. Hope that is clearer than mud.

Thanks guys! For now I'm using stainless steel hardware that I had leftover from the array frame
