Hey folks,

As some of you may have seen, I'm a pretty big proponent of T-mobile. I love their speeds and performance (which, for me, is consistent in West Texas), but as *everyone* knows, they have absolutely horrible rural coverage. Camping with T-mobile is a very bad decision if you need the internet on the go.

However, the FCC just pushed through a law that disallows Verizon and ATT to buy all the low-band frequencies. As some of you may know, the lower the band, the farther out it can go, but the smaller the speeds (theoretically). T-mobile hopes to push through LTE on these low bands, so hopefully you'll see full speeds in the desert.

With the low bands, they will push into areas where there are no cities or people, so camping alone will still be a delight, but with very high speeds.

The auction for the low bands begins early next year, and as soon as T-mobile can acquire some of the low-band towers, it will cover most of the US (since Verizon and ATT can no longer operate them, according to the FCC.) Good news for pink!

Here's the article (some comments below are worth reading as well):

This is good news! I've got an old "dumb" cell phone that I load up with minutes from T-Mobile every now and then, but get no reception outside of most of the cities I've been through.

.... being a major cheap a$$, I refuse to pay the monthly data plans to support a smart phone! :D

Switching sim chip to tmobile on iPhone is easy. Am going to trial that soon.
