That author is a dingbat.  I am a product of the 1970s and still look back fondly on that decade.  Great music, great cars.  I never saw this movie but have seen pics of that Super Van.  Haven't found any info online of the van yet, just some reviews of the movie.  I'd guess it would be somewhat embarrassing to be "getting it on" under that huge glass canopy.  Not one of Barris's bettet designs.   But still kinda cool.
