Read the fine print on any ST phone pkg. They explicitly prohibit tethering a ST phone to any other device. I tried to DL an app on mu ST phone that would overwrite the ST programing, but had no luck. Search the web, and you'll find plent of folks who's phone where shut off due to tethering.ramblingvanman said:Do any of the ST phones work well as hotspots?
I hear Att bought out Cricket. I've had spotty data in rual areas with Att in the past, but voice has been good. YMMVramblingvanman said:I don't know about cricket. How is their coverage nation wide? ST has worked everywhere I have been so far. I am in need of a newer/better phone now though. Mine is almost 6 years old and now the battery won't hold a charge.
With ST, the towers you use depends on the type of phone you have. A CDMA phone will either be on Verizon or Sprint (different models use different towers). GSM phones use AT&T towers. The easiest way to tell is by the model #. A model that ends in a C is CDMA and G is for GSM.Milk Hauler said:I hear Att bought out Cricket. I hear ST uses various towers in different parts of the country. Since they don't own their towers, its who ever had the cheapest rates. They buy data in huge quantities from Verizon and Att. My area uses Verizon. Excellent data even up in the redwood Forrests. Att has excellent data strength in larger citied. I'll trade spotty data for larger amounts if it. I get laid over a bit as a longhaul trucker. Wifi at the truck stops sucks!
