Still Planning and Dreaming

One thing I learned long ago is that pets often "feed" from your emotional state so approaching the situation with a "can do" goes a long way. When I am stressed out, the whole household turns upside down which, of course, only makes it worse. They have no idea what the problem is but if I am acknowledging a problem, they trust they need to get on board. So, I learned to "regroup" pretty quick.

Thanks for the encouragement and the invite.  This is my favorite site with so much information, help, and friendliness.  Do you have posted exactly where you are?  There are so many questions I have.  I would love to meet up with you and your group.

Hi Patsy, I just did a blog with maps to where I am right now. You can find it here:

I also just published a video of our current, November camp in Quartzsite, you can view it here:

Welcome.  I'm 61 and I decided that whatever time I have left, and we never know, I'm going to spend it wisely.

I love this attitude!!! That's exactly how I think. As far as I know I am in perfect health (except for being an old, fat fart) But I live like this is the last year I've been given--so it's going to be a great time!

Of course I do balance that with planning for the future, but I live in the moment for today as much as I possibly can.

Hi Patsy, I'm excited for you!

I set my intention almost two years ago to buy a van, fix it up myself, and get out on the road, part-time to start, and I give myself and my adventures a 100% satisfaction rating thus far. I've done several long trips both time-wise and distance, and lots of short trips around my home state.

I'm not one who has grown up wielding a wrench, so I budget for maintenance and maintain a roadside service membership. A major focus for me is learning about my vehicle and how to troubleshoot, if not do the work.

I drew up my idea of a full-time mobile living budget to see how it might compared it to my current expenses, using a template I found here.

I've found I love both the planning and the implementation, so it's a win-win, and I'm looking forward to reconnecting with a lot of the RTR folks I met last year and meeting new vanning pals.... hopefully including you!

I spent 9 months o the road with my cat.

Whenever we would stay at a house, he would try to get to the van, where he knew that was his territory.  While driving he is either on the back of the passenger seat watching the road, or on  my lap where he will be petted.  He sometimes stayed in his house when he got ejected from my lap~~~

The dash was never an option.

Definitely get a harness now.  It sometimes takes  while before they stop throwing a fit about it.

Snow Gypsy,
I am always aware of how my mood affects hers, but she also has a mind of her own. She does NOT like to be restrained in any way. So I will take advice and start now trying to get a harness on her. Maybe I can use her dental treats as rewards. A harness is the only way she would be able to go outside, and Abigail loves to go outside.

Gotcha, I am starting now because I know there will be a huge amount of resistance and stubbornness. Wonder where she gets that from?

Your pics are precious! My cat is a black and white mittens and boots cat named Abigail.
