starting to get things tied up cargo trailer tagged and van tagged and insured ready to go to my next chapter in life  .

Gettin' excited? I get a lil, "kid at Christmas" feeling every time we decide to go to a new area. Best of luck!

been a year sense I have started now for a month I have been at a friends house prepping the van and cargo trailer for the road

I went to the doctor the other day and now that I am using a po box they said I am homeless and I said I am not homeless I am a van dweller because I cannot afford to live in a house anymore . I just look forward to each day wondering what interesting things will happen in my packs world . hopefully we will be on the road near the end of the month.

Where ya headed first? No specifics, but in general. Staying around a home base or gonna stretch your legs?

Best of Luck to you. Think of it as a permanent camping trip where you can go anywhere you feel good about going. :)

not sure yet going where each tank of gas takes me I figure I will drive a tank of gas a day and stop and explore with the dogs . and see what is going on in the new life

well working on the trailer getting it set up for living and the van to so all doctors appointments are done and other things like that now getting the dogs shots is one of the last things to do .to get started

I did things a little backwards, or maybe sideways.  I got laid off, bought my trailer, and basically hit the road.  Nine months ago .  Been working on it on the road.  I didn't have a legal tag on the trailer until March!  Still got a lot to do.

When I hit QZ at the beginning of the RTR, I had a bed to sleep on, and a trailer full of stuff that I had just tossed in.

So, congrats for doing it better!  It makes life on the road a lot easier, and a LOT easier to pull up stakes and leave when you need to .

Oh, and I really like your idea for a tank of gas a day,  and then explore.

Have fun on the road,

Pat

hi pat my whole life is sideways and backwards . I used the last of the money after paying my late wife funeral cost and credit cards off from the sell of our house that's how I got the trailer and the newer van and gave my old van to a friend that needed a car

well had the instrument cluster repaired in the van before I get going .got the oil changed in the van and now most of the loose strings are tied up like new tires belts and hoses and check the antifreeze these things are done to . getting nonperishables like caned goods this Is taking me longer than I thought it would going to try to leave Kansas city by the end of the month . I have things ready to go in the trailer the cargo carrier on the van with extra gear for sleeping and just keeping warm in the cold . and extras if somebody needs a sleeping bag . not sure weather to bring my tool box or not I probably will incase I need to try to fix something on the van or trailer I will try to say something here tomorrow

That would be wise..

Don't go crazy with the 'tank of gas' rule. If your rig can get 400 miles on a tank (just guessing), there's a lot you might miss along the way if mileage is all you care about.

YOU'RE FREE NOW! The number of miles you can cover per day shouldn't be the reason you're on the road. Stop and smell the roses (or poppies or sunflowers). Slow down and look at the scenery.

Cabazon, CA has two large dinosaurs.
Granger, WA has about 30 dinosaurs around town.
Vernal, UT only has one, but it's pink, and her name is Dinah.

There are mountains, cliffs, glaciers, caves, canyons and gorges. There are cactus and adobe pueblos. There are places where you can find diamonds or fossils. There are old ghost towns.

I've heard that you can lay a black cloth on a table, stretch a thick white string across it, then set a chicken on the table and put its beak on the string for several seconds, and the chicken will stay there for quite a while, hypnotized and motionless.

IOW, there is more than the yellow stripe down the middle of the road.

well I am in Kansas city Missouri so going west for the winter to do something different the dogs and I will stop and smell the flowers with my pack I am going to travel with three of my dogs going to leave the youngest one with a friend because he has became attached to him and so has his service dog riley so Wilson will stay in Kansas city till I travel back with my older dogs. and I still have family here so I will travel back here for the summer .

Amen to this. My van has a theoretical range of between 490 & 595 depending on the mpg I'm getting. 35 gallon tank x 14 to 17 mpg.
You can certainly miss a lot in that amount of distance. :p

finished cleaning out the van pulled the last back seat and put it on the curb for the junk man the humidity is real high today so I am going to try to work on finishing the trailer . I am trying to go at the end of the month . I did plug the trailer lights into the van today to make sure they work now this is the last phase of the project

well was the hook up day to test the trailer lights they all worked I am so pleased .about a week left till we roll of into the SUN SET still getting rid of stuff .what fun

so today I am going through a friends garage that I am using for storage till I leave so I got to play santa yesterday cleaned out my nonperishables from the house that I lived in so I took the bags of food and put them on her families porch to surprise them . so the reason I am still in Missouri is because of doctor appointments and dog appointments . and I have a vet friend that sometimes needs a ride to the va for his appointments . so made a mess out of the trailer yesterday today I will try to clean it up . so have a great day enjoy life it is short so have fun

Would like you to have a great day also. I tried googling a basic safety guidelines for cargo trailer tires. Some were too much pop ups or such. I do not endorse the "trailers for less" web site. Just the care for the cargo trailer tires. I also own a cargo trailer.
Be careful, don't let a blown tire, from lack of proper maintenance, ruin a fine day for you. May the " traveling gods be with you".
