How many of us have done this? You take the DC power from the vehicle or house battery, change it to AC via an inverter, so you can plug in the laptop cord which converts the AC back to DC.<br><br>Some companies have realized this is kind of dumb. They make computer cords that plug straight into vehicle DC accessory sockets and output current at the proper specs for the laptop.<br><br>Of course, you might have other things to plug into an inverter, and that's cool. Might as well plug the laptop in, too.

My laptop battery is 19 volts and my vehicles DC socket gives 14.78 volts tops.&nbsp; not enough for charging my laptop.&nbsp; Works fine for things needing a lower voltage.

I've been using car adapters/ DC to DC converters for both my laptops for years now. &nbsp;One is 19.5 volts the other 14. &nbsp;Both save significant battery power over using my inverter to power the original power brick.<br><br>Go to amazon electronics. Type in your laptop make and model# and add (car adapter).<br><br>My PWR+ brand for my Dell was 22$ delivered, and works perfectly. &nbsp;It is powering this laptop as I type.<br><br>I hate using my inverter for anything. &nbsp;It's loud to the ear, and electrically. &nbsp;It will knock out weaker tv stations and cause a 60 HZ buzz an some speakers.<br><br><br>

Also check the input voltage range for your specific model of laptop. <br><br>Some times the voltage range is a large window and you can get away with just a direct connection. <br><br>

wrc68 is correct just because your lap top batt is higher voltage an adapter still should be available.&nbsp; you can bump dc volts up and down just like ac.&nbsp; highdesertranger
