Help!
I need to repair my battery now and eventually replace it.
The negative wire from the charge controller is loose in the battery terminal connector.
I have 1 battery, 2 pv panels and the solar charge controller.
Can I cover the pv panels with cardboard and safely disconnect and repair the wire/connector?
Do you recommend solder and crimp or is crimping sufficient?
Thanks very much!

yes.

crimping is fine if done correctly. the thing is most people don't have the crimpers to do it correctly. what size wire are we talking?

Wire size looks to be no 6, crimped I have is Channellock no 909

Channellock no 909 says 10-22 AWG ONLY

I will need a larger size. What brand(s)/model no. do you recommend?

Thanks!

The loose wire is actually 8 awg and it is the house wire rather than the solar charger wire = I'm still learning.

I have the Klein tool that is similar to yours. I find that it crimps 8 gauge non insulated terminals just fine. just use heat shrink for the insulation.
