Welcome to the CRVL Forums
In two short years this place will play a big part in preparing you go on the road. I live in a house on the edge of the Ohio River which was something I had always wanted. But if it weren't for being here, until I finally decide to accept an offer from some younger person who wants to enjoy this life style, I'd be in my Van and on the road tomorrow. But I was into Vans before I purchased this place and became landed and allowed my possessions to come to "own me". So, I can tell you I've seen it from both sides.
A number of years ago there was a Television Program titled, "The Under Sea World of Jacques Cousteau"....stick with me on this analogy here.........I remember one program was about Octopus.......which Cousteau reasoned to be perhaps the most intelligent animal in the sea. What struck me then was a remark that the Octopus had at one time had a "Shell" but had evolved to live without it thus placing risk-gains over security-safety. For this choice the Octopus
adapted and become very successful having realized that it can always find shelter and refuge on a temporary as needed basis. Of course we as humans on dry land cover a lot of ground and travel great distances so the best we can do is downsize our Shells for smaller mobile ones we can use to travel and shelter ourselves in. But the minimalism is the key idea here to both us and the Octopus.
We as humans can find many of the things along the road to use temporarily that others of us would build into our big homes and estates. (that they pay and pay and pay for) So the take away ? You can live out of a Cheap RV Platform of some form and see your lovely country (big July 4 shout out here) and meet loads of interesting people.
Even enjoy dining on many of the local foods in other parts of the country. And who knows, perhaps even meeting someone special if that's in your bucket list.
So often I've heard people ask, so how do I get into this Van Nomadic Life ? Well, below I've created two simple websites to address that. One to set up a basic rig to get started in for week ends and summer time vacation trips.
The other a portal of handy information for someone out on the road......or getting ready to go out on the road.
All you have to do is spend some time in them as many others have now and absorb and learn. Then just continue reading in the CRVL Forum.
All the best !
