i have a dual sensing automatic charge relay that is connected to the starter battery so it can charge my house batteries using the the alternator . from what i understand is since it is dual sensing that when either battery has a charge applied to it and the voltage reaches a certain threshold the acr will automatically connect both together so both sets off batteries can charge. as of now my alternator is doing the charging and it works fine so far. my question is when i hook up a solar panel to charge my two house batteries as I'm running my fridge and such i don't want the acr to connect and start charging the starting battery how can i seperate the two at this time? can i just install an switch in line, should i get a regular mechanical solenoid or is there another option.
i would still like to use my alternator as a charging source and so far the acr is working great but like i said i want to only charge the house batteries with the solar.

Yes, if it is dual sensing, then it will sense whenever your solar panels are charging the house batteries, and send part of that to the engine battery.

You could put a switch in, but then why have the acr at all?

Does it have separate voltage sense wires running to each battery? Could you just unhook the ones on the house batteries?

Regards
John
