trailer....1972 Shasta Compact.....a little chunk of land by the lake....a lot......no services

Yes I have a base camp. Are you vagabonding or planning stage???

it appears you got your posting problem figured out. what was it? highdesertranger

well.....that didn't work out on the land.....I had to face some hard truth....at 63 years old I am not ready or able to clear a chunk of raw, wild, land...………...I was heartbroken......man, I was ready to sell my trailer and settle for my sorry life as it is. But then I said screw this, I am going to drag it out and camp.....I havent yet, to me its scary, but I am going to continue working on the trailer.

Wildbill:

At our age (turned 67 this week), we have to realize our limitations. That said, however, there are still plenty of things we can still do...it just takes longer. Pace yourself and take breaks often. Break the tasks into mini sessions. Reward yourself when a task is successfully completed. Don't try to finish anything in one fell swoop. Be realistic....but persistent. It can be done....it just takes longer and more auxiliary equipment.

Maybe the lot doesn't need to be fully cleared. Do it in such a way that your van is hidden. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi there and thank you, I hadn't handed over the money nor gone to the courthouse for the deed and his signature......it is far away from where i am and i just thought about it and reality kind of set in.....then some pain to my heart......but, i thought for the money and effort and all....i  could do quite a bit of camping, even if i have to pay $17bucks a night.....info: it was a lake lot, rocky as hell, ground level a foot above the road, and …...drum roll.....on a slope full of trees......lol.....so hauling off and hauling in.....not even counting the cutting.

retired farmers here :)
we did all the hard work when younger, the thought of another hay season and loading wagons....thought of clearing more pasture land....the thought of repair/add new fencing....the idea of many hours working hard out in high heat...ugh I tell ya when we sold the farm and livestock and more and were done.....best damn day of our lives :)
while younger the work is easily handled and ya love it in a way....older you can't do what ya did when younger only cause when you did it younger, it kills your back or whatever now that we are older LOL ya can't win I guess thru all of it!!

sorry the land didn't work out well but other doors are open to ya, go thru and see what ya find.

we are a few years off from hitting the road full time. I gotta get kid settled in college in a few years and then sell it all and hit the road. Our time is coming sooner now than later.
