This is simply a connector socket that you mount on the outside of a trailer. Connect your 120 volt wiring to your lights, heater, a/c, tv, etc on the inside of the trailer. Then plug an extension cord into the outside. It keeps you from running cords out windows or doors to get power.

Similar to a shore power RV plug but standard 3 prong 120v plugs in vs 30 or 40 amp RV plug

Commonly called a 15A shore power plug.  The very first hole I cut in my van was for a NOCO shore power plug.

Warning:  I am going to veer into "barely related" territory after this...

I cut off the end of the shore power plug and wired it into a circuit breaker box.    From there 110v goes across the van to a GFCI outlet in the galley, a normal power distribution strip, and a 10A DIY converter.  I sized the converter small so:

  1. it would be inexpensive - total about $70.  20A would have cost another $50, and I figured if I had shore power access I had plenty of time to charge.
  2. I could run the converter and a portable A/C or electric space heater (on low) at the same time without popping someones 15A breaker.  I have a 15A breaker in there now but since then I found a 12A which should trip well before a 15A outlet would.
The converter has the same Vabs setpoint as the solar setup,  but floats at 13.2v instead of 13.8v as it would be in float most of the time.

All made possible by the shore power outlet.  :)

Hey Texas... I almost bought that one until I read the specs and it says the lead wire is 16 awg. I know it's short but it should be 12 gauge for my use.

I have that and am quite happy with the quality.  I'm not planning on getting anywhere near 1600W.

Riverman, how much power were you going to run through it?

I don't know yet... an LED tv, converter, heater or a/c depending on the season, led lights, depends on what I need at the time.
