Generally, extended idling is not good for the engine unless it is designed for that (some are).

You could add some extra hardware but the basic problem is engine coolant, engine oil, and wear on the internal engine parts.

Realistically all you can do is purchases high output alternator from a reputable supplier. Make sure your freon is charged and at optimum levels or you can suffer in the heat. Aside from the aforementioned engine related fluids being fresh and at their proper levels.
