Hello all! We are a couple in Upstate NY with a little one in the process of downsizing our lives to eventually move into a converted cargo trailer. We have spent weeks on the road living out of a tent with a car, but this will be a big step. It will also be a sort of perennial tour for our show (we are sideshow and fire performers), which, combined with the child, is part of why we are going with the larger cargo trailer option over some smaller vans and such. Since we have a lot of foraging, survival, simple living, thrill shows and life on the road stuff to write about, we are going to blog about all of it at http://cfcaravanchronicle.blogspot.com/, in case any of you are interested or have helpful advice to offer us. I'm sure we'll be bringing questions here once we are moving in (and even before). Maybe we'll run into some of you on the road, at an RTR (we'd love to go to one) or at one of our shows. :D

If you want to see more about us or catch a show we are also posting to Facebook on or Crooked Fork Caravan page and our show page, Fire and Slice.

Sorry about all the links, but a lot of the writing and images in those places introduces us better than I can in a short message here.

Welcome to the CRVL forums, Crookedforkers! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

We usually have a couple people that like to play with fire at the winter RTR. And we've had talent shows in the past. Your talents would give anyone a run for their money. Hope to see you there!

Welcome! A cargo trailer will make an excellent RV. If you haven't bought one yet, a few suggestions: Buy a white one. You'll be so happy that you did on the first sunny day. Also see if the manufacturer will install windows with screens or do it yourself. A good cross breeze does wonders for staying cool. Don't worry too much about stealth. Comfort is often more important.

Have you done many shows yet or is it a new thing to go along with traveling?

Good luck with your journey to downsizing. It looks like you're well on your way!

Hello Tony and Karen,
We have been performing for close to two years as a two-woman team, combining our individual performance art talents soon after we became a couple. Most of our shows have been in Upstate NY and West Virginia so far. Our Facebook page has a lot of images and information about our performances while the standard web page doesn't have as much. I am hoping to add a sort of a "resume" page to it soon (that page is over at www.fireandsliceproductions.com). Hitting the road just means we'll be able to take the show on tour as a bonus.

Thank you for the advice on the cargo trailer. We have been thinking that we want at least the top to be white, for certain, but we'll take what we can get. White sides would be handy, too. We also consider at least two windows to be a must. We sold off our home's air conditioners a while back and the past couple years have told us that cross-breeze isn't something we can do without!
