Hi, I'm Capricci! Looking forward to learning more about the community! I'm part-time stealth in a minivan, going on the road to Colorado next summer, and after that, who knows where??

Welcome Capricci to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you. highdesertranger

I'm a part-timer based in Colorado. Finding summer, and winter, work here is very easy. I love to travel to the Desert in the Fall and Spring, plus a winter break for the RTR.

Yeah, I nervous about finding work. I'm a school bus driver in my shore life and being in a minivan, and being 52, I'm not sure who would hire a wornout old girl like me in a ratty old van. Although ratty is good in the parking lots, for now. No one even look s twice at me.

Capricci: you mentioned who would hire you? I'm envious of your school bus driving experience. There are several shuttle bus driving jobs I would love to do but no experience. There is one in denali national park I would love. Have you looked at coolworks.com? There are a lit if jobs there, some with room and board included. Take care. Nora

At the assisted living where my mother in law lives they have a small (no cdl) bus with wheelchair lift to take residents to stores and appointments.  These places are all over.  The work hours are irregular.  Some of the residents are as difficult as 8th grade school bus kids but most are nice.

There is parking and the wifi reaches most of the parking lot.  By the back door there is a hose.  I haven't seen an outlet outside.  Overnight the parking lot gets sparse but not empty.  Nobody notices one more van.

Thanks! I'm going to Colorado much sooner than I thought and will be job hunting in February, of all things. Ive overnighted at s nursing home when my mom was in rehab there, but hadnt thought of a driving job. Altho i have taken not of those big med vans

If you have the CDL for a bus, you can work anywhere any time. All across the country there are river rafting guides and other companies that need to shuttle their customers to the beginning and then end of their trips. You can work anywhere you want, and usually in the most beautiful places in the country. I had a friend who did it and made $10 an hour driving and another $10 an hour in tips.

Good work and easy to find!! Then, in the winter head to the desert and drive school bus. You could camp on a LTVA for $180 for 7 months and drive in Yuma or Blythe. Or go up to Pahrump NV where you can camp on BLM land for free and drive right in town!

There are variables here. Sometimes these facilities will require a commercial license (at the very least, a Class C cdl) even if it's not technically required with their equipment due to experience on overhangs and such. Over 14 passengers require a Class C cdl with passenger endorsement.

Bus is split between "School" and "Bus" with a Class B. Meaning you can have one without the other however not qualified to drive the other even though both are Class B. The restrictions on the back of the license will indicate.
