I want to build in a Small costco convection oven. Do I need to line the area with anything? Wood is my framing and shelving. Was thinking of hosing is down with Boric acid and calling it a day?

How hot does the outside of the oven get when you run it?

Does the oven's instructions mention anything about leaving x amount of space between it and the closest wall?

If I were doing a project like this, I would probably:

Leave an inch or two of air space all around the oven.

Line the space with reflectix (sp?) - cheap and light.

Maybe mount a small computer fan in the space above it to keep the air moving around it.

John

I have some aluminum door kick plates I can cut and use to line area, I will leave some space for venting and just take fire watch until im comfortable with it running? I just dont like 300-400 degree heat around wood?

Get some of the insulation used for built in ovens in houses. leave room for air flow. Jury rigged means if it can go wrong it will.

Aluminum door plates are not insulation. Aluminum will transfer heat from one side to the other. That's why they use it to make cooking pots.

Please provide a link for the oven.

If you are planning on driving a lot of miles I would not suggest ANY home appliances. Go with RV type of ovens.

James AKA Lynx
