OnStar claims to offer a wifi hotspot. Plans are $5/250MB/day, $150/20GB/year, or $20/unlimited/month. The equipment is built into "Most Model Year 2015, 2016 and 2017 Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles" but can be purchased and maybe installed in others as well. The $20/month is in addition to the regular base plan ($20-35/month), so really $40-55/month, which is still a lot cheaper than a hotspot plan directly from the cell carriers.  Oh, and I suppose the plan comes with some other services that may be useful to some people.

I assume it does not plug into an external antenna, but surely a booster could be placed next to it.

Has anyone tried these OnStar hotspots? This seems like a hard deal to ignore.

Likely that your vehicle needs to be running for it to work...
