Being that that is a 12 passenger, wonder if it belonged to a church or something?  I would buy a CarFax on it.  You'll have to get the VIN number first.  Once you get that, not only run it through CarFax but also through an online VIN decoder.

I did think it was odd that they claimed it was inspected in both VA and MD.  Usually, you can only get a vehicle inspected in the state it's registered in.

That's actually nice enough that if you find you really need the extra height, you could have a hitop added down the road.

BTW, 97 was the first year where the Triton engines had the spark plug problems.  Discuss that with your mechanic friend.

I saw the Sprinter but worried about what appears to be some patching on the outside.  Rust maybe?  And I'm not sure how I feel about trying to get service for them on the road.  I've heard they are a bitch.  Love the space it provides, though.

I saw the first one you listed with the lift. While I like the head room, I don't know anyone who can remove the lift for me and I just wonder how much that would cost.

The Chevy Express I like quite a bit.  Guessing I'll need to have it repainted unless I want to deal with the the heat issue that comes with having a dark color.  Bins are a little easier to remove than a lift.  I'll ask about that one.

Thanks!!

the nuts and bolts removal of the lift is easy, any shade tree mech and $100 will do that it's the safety switch/wiring you got to be aware of

dont think the color matters much,if you park in 100 degree sun it will be to hot no matter what the color, thats when you drive away

check with services that build those vans, you might get the lift removed by donating it
Job (hopefully) done right at no charge to you

You've been posting a lot of Craig's List finds.  Are you looking on Ebay at all?  You can put in a zip code and min and max prices on a search on ebay motors.  I used 20007 and $3k to 10K and came up with a lot of vans and minivans.  Here's one 25 miles away from that zip:

I haven't looked at ebay because I don't feel comfortable about buying something I haven't inspected and driven.

NVM.  It's sold.
I had a late model one ton Ford cargo van once that a friend talked me into. The first thing I got to do with it was rebuild the transmission.
No more Fords for me. I never have luck with them. :dodgy:

I has recently had experience with eBay. They allowed two scammers to cheat me...and took my money to give to them without even looking at my evidence.

I used eBay a lot years ago...they have really changed. Too many scammers. eBay is protecting them.

I won't touch eBay, and I strongly warn people against being either a buyer or a seller. It is a market place for scammers to get away with their rip off schemes.

I shy away from eBay for the most part. Currently I'm selling some beauty samples that I purchased from a fund raiser we had at work. So far I haven't had any problems but I will rarely, if ever, buy anything on ebay. Back in the day I did some selling for a friend and now my sister's friend has approached me to sell some of her mother's estate items. Neither ebay nor PayPal are good at protecting people. You have to be your own advocate.

I do a fair bit of buying on ebay, never a problem
That said, I don't buy cars there. for the very reasons you gave, I want to see it and drive it
I only buy from sellers with a high positive rating, and I ask questions before purchase
heck, I bought a rack and pinion for my Lumina off there for less than $100, off a salvage yard that sells there, and, come to thiunk of it, I did buy a motorcycle off ebay, but that was from a dealer, not a private seller, and i could go to the dealer's S&B store
went to the store, looked at the bike, then bid on it
Still wouldn't have done it without seeing the bike first

You understand that SOME of the vehicles on Ebay motors are classified ads, placed by dealers, and you can go there and take it for a test drive, right?  Sometimes these same vehicles are posted on Craig's List, simultaneously, but sometimes not.
