The term "off grid" means different things to different people. Rather than arguing for/against about some exclusive, objective definition, we might just ask someone what they mean when they use the term.

Here's a small sample of how some define the term: What Does 'Off Grid' Really Mean?

Wow...I had no idea...and I've been over-nighting at both of those locations for 35 years...

I nearly stepped directly on a big rattlesnake one time in some 'wilderness'...and that has never happened to me on a parking lot.

So I suppose its all about perspective.

I think it means you cook your own food from scratch. such as preppers and steak.

The lighter sleeve is not working in the van and I'll need to get that replaced. Lots of little things need to be done! But I have about a year before I want to be full time on the road.

Did you try replacing the fuse for it? I took a multimeter and tested all of my fuses. Found one I had missed by sight and replacing it fixed my dead DC outlet.

Yes. Solar system for electric, battery bank, or maybe a generator? hissing propane lamps? Pump up gasoline stoves? Yep, I want a uncomplicated off grid life.

I sleep in my van with the doors closed and locked; the shades are closed and I see no stars, fireflies, bears, etc.

Thought it would be fun to show why Missourians aren't too worried about the bears here:

If you can't see the video, it's a bear playing in a swimming pool.

[emoji3]. So cute! I would think a well fed bear would certainly be less dangerous.

Gotta say, after five days in Chicago, as much as I love that city, I was done! Fun to visit, but oh my god the noise, and traffic, and fumes, and PEOPLE everywhere!!! Off grid and in nature sounds so much better.

Try man-swarms like Bangkok, Singapore, Guangzhou–Shenzhen.

Make any US downtown seem like an empty ghost town.

Went through some of that in Morocco, never again!
