I watch videos and read forums vicariously until the day I can be on the road. My husband is starting to warm up to the idea. I'm hoping to take a trip in our Town and Country minivan in the spring to Galveston. Just take out the back seats and throw in a mattress, ice chest and clothes. Maybe an battery operated fan and battery operated LED lights for a few days just to dip our toes into the nomadic lifestyle. Congrats to everyone living the life and inspiring the rest of us.

Welcome to the CRVL forums mother2manycubs! Dipping your toes by taking trips with your current vehicle and minimal camping equipment is one of the best ways to try out the nomadic life. Have a good trip and don't forget to come back and give us an update!

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Mother2manycubs welcome to the forum. Starting out with short trips is one of the best ways to learn whether you’re gonna like it or not. Some people get excited about being a nomad and drop out because they went to far too fast. Ask a battery powered lights that’s all I use in my van. Harbor freight has some cheapies that attached to the wall and throw a great deal of light with several AAA batteries. I have a recharger for the AAA is that I can plug into the cigarette lighter or my solar system. You can get them for six dollars or less and then you can go other places and spend 60 or $70 I’d rather go to Harbor freight and get the cheapest even if I have to replace them every year or so. Good luck to you. God bless the nomads every one of them

Welcome to the CRVL Forum   :)

Good luck with both projects   :D    Getting the rig ready and the husband to agree to it.

To make it a little more easy to persuade him I'd offer you to look at the two links below.

The first is for a simple Van Rig setup with other alternatives,   and the one below it is a portal
of handy information to make going on the road or living on the road once you start out....more safe,
comfortable,  and convenient.

Remember, your rig is your vehicle to travel in, sleep in, and live out of.  In that lower link there is a portal of links to
the nationally syndicated Gym's,  Laundromats, and travel planning sites that can make your life on the road so much easier.  Covid is making a lot of the eating places more difficult to access in terms of dining in,  but there no shortage of places that have drive thru, carry out, or delivery.

All the best

Important factor  for making a man happy on a camping trip in a minivan. Make sure his bed is longer than his height. A good night's sleep is essential. If the vehicle is not a good fit for him to sleep in then you are unlikely to convince him of going camping in it.
