People are correct about it being difficult to find free camping right on the coast. Now and again I see of a lower cost camp site. There is a beach or two in Washington state that has an area of hard enough sand to drive into and spend a night for free. But I have never heard of free 2 week places right by the ocean. They would of course be constantly mobbed with people if there was one.

Allmost all the free public lands for camping are at least several miles inland from the ocean. That is not going to be changing. The towns along the coast generally prohibit sleeping in vehicles overnight.

It is possible to be in comfortable temperatures in Arizona year around. You move into the northern mountain region for the summer months. But heads up about that scheme, it will rain most days during the monsoon season but the rain is generally only during the mid afternoon. Mornings are typically sunny. Rain at night sometimes happens but not every night. Of course you will also get a lot of rain along the Pacific coast except in Southern California.
Not easy but I've been on the Oregon coast since June 1st had many ocean view camp/park nights haven't had a day over 72° in July I was in Newport Bayfront that day watching Orca and Grey Whale near Davis Park Nye Beach from the street out of my class B window highly recommend it my favorite this whole summer I parked next to vacant lots just south of Davis Park there is a public pavilion with power and WiFi bathrooms many others in the area Nye Beach is a great vanlife never a knock I'm further south now but I will go back there again soon

Back in the 1990's there were two campsites next to the beach that let you stay for two weeks at $3 a night. I haven't researched them since. I would like it up in Nye Beach and will take your information to heart. It would be great to hook up with a family of van dwellers and discuss living situations on the road. Safe place for van dwellers who are not a threat to others should be allowed and as costs grow more and more people will turn to their vehicles to sustain themselves. Maybe one day we will meet up in Nye Beach and discuss some areas of interest. :)

Whenever you are ready I'm going back to Utah the last week of September for Dr appointment then Pahrump to volunteer then probably Arizona for the winter but things are always changing and I try to go with the flow

I'm looking to hook up with other van dwellers but at this time I can't go anywhere. I have an estate to settle and I need to liquidate my online junk business. I have a dog that's moping around and lays in one spot all day because his person is not around anymore. I have three years I can stay in this house but after that it has to be sold so since I lived in my van before it won't be a tragedy to do it again. :) I'm looking to meet up with other van dwellers and when I have to leave this residence it looks like I will have some family to go to. Thanks "Justlucky".

It might be possible to connect with others in your local area for some 2 or 3 day long camping outings. A car and tent will do for this if you do not have anything else set up for van living. That will be good stress relief from settling an estate.

Finding those people in your area might happen by posting on the HOWA associated Facebook page "we camp together". On that page you can create a posting asking to camp or even just meet for coffee with others who might be living in or passing through your area.

I'll go to HOWA and have a look. As for hooking up with other campers unless you have an RV and get a full hookup at one of the casinos camping in Las Vegas right now is out of the question because it's over 100 degrees. It's 98 right now and the high today will be 105.

There are vandwellers around Las Vegas and once in awhile they flood areas outside of neighborhoods which pisses residents off and they get put on the news. When summer comes they have to leave because it just gets to damn hot. I don't know where they go for the summer but I want to find out. Same with the people in Arizona which has an abundance of BLM land but they too scatter when summer comes.

I'm learning. I lived in a van for 10 years or more but I was working all night and there were two BLM campgrounds close by that only charged $3 a night.

I'll go over to the HOWA site and see if I can get some conversation going with people.
Thanks!

Actually I ended up calling HOWA and talked to the woman who runs the place for about 15 minutes. She was nice and very helpful. I learned a few things from her. I may take part in the virtual events.

I've never heard of this group and am curious about the name if you find it. (Idle curiosity but I have been thinking about starlink, etc. Just returned from north coastal California.)
Found them again. I had unsubscribed, lol. Their channel on YT is called The Round the World Guys and that group you can join is called Kift at:

Edit: They aren't exactly coastal. Sorry.

I don’t know why any would want to go to Quartzite. Pick a spot with trees and water b

I'd like this HOWA thing to be near the coast but the van dwellers have to stick near BLM land which is mostly in the desert. Lots of BLM land on beaches but during the summer you will play hell finding a camping spot. One of these days I will go and visit HOWA in Pahrump and Quartzite. I'm only 1 hour away from Pahrump but it will be along time before I go.
