&nbsp;Hey there.. just happened upon this site while looking up camper construction and it sure looks like a place I'd like to 'hang'. Been living on the road for about 26 yrs now (up in B.C., Canada), in vehicles ranging from a Hyundai pony to a full on school bus and am in a transition period at present (truck camper on my 4x4 or step van?). Anyway, I've gotta start checking out some threads so.. catch ya later!&nbsp; <br>

Another Canuck <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"><div>Hey you will like it here, most everyone is nice, polite and friendly. There are a few of us here from North of the border, I used to live in BC in a school bus for a while as well. Now in Ontario in a modified Box truck.&nbsp;</div><div>Go Diesel&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>My thoughts are to get a tow behind trailer or the Truck Camper. Look to some older car hauler/toy haulers, they have all the fittings for electric and such. There are a few race tracks around, good place to start looking. Although they are a bit heavier, they are also insulated, have vents, propane plugs, 110v plugs etc etc</div><div>~WildE</div>

&nbsp;I'm in a truck camper at the moment, and have done the trailer thing. I won't live in a trailer again and the truck camper is both cramped and high profile. My thoughts are going along the route of a step van painted white, and looking like a good ol' commercial vehicle. Nice thing is that I could sliiiiiide in near anywhere and nobody would think twice.. great for crashing in industrial parks. Also thinking of diesel, though propane sounds good. ..Willy.&nbsp; <br>

That is what I have actually,<div>Ford F350 Diesel, although it is 1988 Ford does not change much and since it is the cab over design Box Truck with windows, it does fit right in. I have seen lots of others very similar. Parked it a few times with others and it drew 0 zero attention.</div><div>I have a thread going that has more info,</div><div>mine is the 7.3ltr Diesel great one, same as the school busses so lots of parts and not much difference in the last 20+ years.</div><div>Stay away from the 6ltr and 6.2ltr engines, they were and are junk, per lots of people and mechanics</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>look in the&nbsp;<b style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 220, 169); ">Share your conversion progress! thread</b></div>

<p>What kinda gas mileage do you get with a 7.3 liter diesel?</p>

Yeah, I'd really like to know too. Would also be interested in knowing how it compares to LPG.<br>

LPG vs Diesel<div>LPG great on Flat and moderate hills - Very Hilly or Mountains, bogs out, not much power</div><div>Diesel, pulls up hills like a hot knife going through butter, same on flats and hills.&nbsp;</div><div>Difference in pricing, lots, difference in LPG vs Diesel fuel pricing lots</div><div>difference in buying a School Bus, was as follows (base prices)</div><div>Gas buses were $900</div><div>LPG buses were $1k</div><div>Diesel buses were $5k</div><div>re-sale similar margins</div><div><br></div><div>I did have problems with the LPG freezing up on the Engine Block in the Hot weather, I overcame the problem but can not tell you now how I did so?&nbsp;</div><div>Perhaps I put a cap over it, so it pre-cooled the air or got some of the moisture out of the air, sorta maybe might have, not sure. fuzzy memory now</div>
