Just signed up. Still dreaming about taking the plunge. I think I will do a couple of practice runs to get a feel for it. I have been following the Channel for about two years. Thinking of retiring next year. Looking forward to meeting some of you and learning what I do not know!

Taking a few "shake down" trips is a wise choice. It will allow you to make your first mistakes and learning experiences (and keep notes of them in a tablet) without any real hardship or major cost when out on the road.

There are two links below that may be handy for you. The first has a check list on page 6. The second is a portal of information to use to plan trips or use once out on the road. It can make your beginning trips a lot easier and more comfortable.
