Hello and Welcome Mcfan!!

Many people continue to work after the age you are at, so don't give up on working.  But based on your comments, definitely give up on what you were doing and cross it off the bucket list.  You got the T shirt - now move on.

As an older worker, I landed in Oregon.  There are tons of jobs of many types and few workers. The cost of living is high here due to no housing but if you live in a van or with roommates it's do-able. I was disabled when I came here but could still walk.  My first boss here told me he didn't care if I did anything more that walk around and talk to people. I can do that. That's how I started camphosting, and went from there.

On the downside, it does rain in Oregon.  Right now it is raining buckets. So consider if you want to be in the damp. There are some camphost jobs that usually open up on the coast for the winter season so you could check that out.

Also Troutdale, OR has a new Amazon place and can't get enough workers, if you want to do Christmas at Amazon.

Or maybe something better will pop up in front of you.

1) Get the RV

I recommend you skip this one unless you absolutely need it for the kids (I don't recall how old they are) or you got lots of money to spend.

I always recommend starting with the vehicle you have now, if it is reliable and you can at all tolerate living in it. You want to avoid spending too much right off the bat. So many people buy way too much RV when they start out and then lose money when they downsize. If you do have to get an RV, get the smallest one you think you can stand. You will then very likely realize that it was still too big, but at least it wont be so oversized that you feel you need to get rid of it.
