Need Van Recommendations

If your able to consider the MB Sprinter, then consider the Ford Transit or Dodge Pro master. the newer diesels with all the emission controls are not as reliable as there predecessors and about $5 K more. The economy and power of the newer gas engines make it hard to cost justiry the diesel, unless you are a high mileage user.

Need for comforts vs. cost (RV vs. camperized van
Ability to build the van out (or access to help)
Ability to repair mechanicals (not needed if flush with $)
Timeframe (1 year, more?)
Yes for a family of 3 you will likely want bigger vs smaller, like a euro tyle high roof, long wheelbase, or similar. If you have the budget for it, that's likely your starting point.
Many threads exist on Dodge Promaster, Ford Transit and some on MB Sprinter, just search, you might find the search easier on Google vs. this forum, as the Google search brings up our forum posts as well as Reddit and others.

DO NOT get the MB, stay away from diesels. MBs are incredibly EXPENSIVE to get worked on, you can't swing a dead field mouse without reading as many horror stories as you want, mostly about finding someone to work on them that KNOWS what they are doing. but what a great adventure it will be, what ever you chose to do. i wish i could have done something like that when i was nine.
