This is beyond my comfort level.

My mechanic said it would take him about 3 hours labor at shop rates to do it, plus of course materials, making the job run  to $600-700. Ouch.

If anyone wants to help me out with this, I'd sure appreciate it. I can pay something, just to find someone who doesn't need as much as my mechanic needs to make it pencil out! I'm in the Puget Sound area, but if you're anywhere in Washington or Oregon, the van and I are portable.

I'm thinking about buying a used lithium battery for this. Feedback/suggestions welcome.

send me a PM, i would be happy to help you out. i am in oregon at the moment but if you are not in a hurry i will probably make a trip to the san juans in the next month or so. if you want to head down this way, i can show you plenty of free boonedocking places to stay during the project

i'll need more details like what van you have and the house battery you want to install and where. i can help you figure all that out and work up an installation that will safely suit your needs while balancing with your budget.

interested to hear which used lithium you are considering.
