I stopped in to the Dollar Tree store for some lemon juice and cheap sunglasses. While I was there I found a small motion sensor light that is great for cabinets, closets and storage bays. They also had single servings of Brunswick Tuna salad with crackers or Chicken salad with crackers.

I like the salads because many of the pills say with food. For a buck these are healthier snakes than cookies or donuts.

At $ Tree I like the "LA Awesome " brand of bleach in a true 1gal, size not the 96oz "gal".  Also the spray bottles of Spic & Span.  The sponge mops are good for wiping down walls and upper cabinets, you just can't put too much pressure on them,  I also use them with furniture spray polish on the upper and lower cabinets.   Since I'm verticlaly challenged this saves me a lot of climbing up and down on step stools, which ol' Arthur Itis is thankful for. :D

I visit there from time to time and have bought the salads along with tuna and salmon packets when they are available.

I do all kinds of shopping at the Dollar store!

It's one of the only places where you can usually find the smaller sizes of products that will fit when you're dealing with smaller spaces - small dish soap is one example.

They also sometimes have the small 4 -6 strip pre-cooked bacon which I stock up on for canoe trips. It's not hard to use up that size in a meal or pawn some off on a camping buddy. The big packages...not so easy!

I love their pickled garlic buds too! Excellent for adding as a treat on the dinner plate or for putting out with pickles at a festive event.

I'm all for eating healthy Snakes! Never had any Tuna flavored ones though.

Sometimes Dollar Tree has flavored packets of instant oatmeal, 10 in a box but sometimes you luck out and hit 12 pack boxes, then it's stock up time! Instant oatmeal with some of their flaked coconut mixed in and topped with a little of their Caribbean Joy brand coconut milk, yum! A month of breakfast for 7$, 9$ if you get disposable spoons and bowls.

Like "Almost There" says, Dollar Tree is great for small quantities, and they often have a decent assortment of nonperishables, like drink flavorings that are less than half the price of Aldi's, even. Love their 'salt free' and other spices, too. Just picked up a large grinder loaded with Himalayan pink salt that oughta last a year.

Their generic pharmaceuticals are a LOT less than the pharmacy chains, with the added benefit of small packaging. Toiletries are good, too, though often watered down or thinned. Oh, and alkaline batteries! WELL under even WalMart's price and, according to 'Consumer Reports' magazine, almost all batteries are made in the same few factories- just branded differently.

Love Dollar Tree!

God, jsut went at it (Kind of) with my shift lead in regards to $1 Store. I was just commenting I bought 16 pencils (Or was it 24) for $1 and he said "I NEVER buy from the $1 store!" I was kind of stunned by him, but he went on a sort of rant about quality and then said "Target was a better choice" or that going to other places was also better.... and I said "The $1 is closer frankly so the extra gas is wasted if they don't have that sale on"...

Some people can't see that these stores fill a niche.....

I have found ramen noodles (5 for $1) there, shaving cream (When I shaved) Shampoo, soap (Love Irish Spring) Balloons (Who hates balloons?) Orange drink, hot dogs, those ribeye slices (A bit salty) but GREAT for a hot sandwich.

Well, I could go on, but it's just that For some it's a great treasure and for some....Well shop elsewhere and don't be dissing my choices.

Had a co-worker give me the stink eye once when I mentioned finding a good deal at Aldi... she all but sneered and said " I KNOW you can afford to shop at a better place than that".

I worry about $ store sunglasses. They often have NO UV filtering, and the result is your pupils are dilated more and let in more damaging UV light. Worst of all one thinks they are protecting their eyes while doing the opposite.

I use the 30$ 3m polarized safety glasses from home depot. I actually ran a pair over, popped one lens back in, heat bent one of the arms, and still use the slightly scratched pair. They are resting on my head now. Impressive, imo.

I buy a lot of things from Dollar Tree so I'm a fan.

But have to agree with SW on items that you really need to protect yourself...best not to rely on the dollar version. I have used some of their meds... a week of their Zyrtec equivalent is cheap and you can tell if it is working or not.

I do use there reading glasses.. while I'm in s&b, I love to have a pair in every room. LOL

About 3 hours after i typed this, they fell off my head.  The little tab to hold arm into lens portion, which I had 'Heat' straightened after backing over them, broke.

I am going to tread very carefully on what I call impressive from here on out.  The timing between my claim of 'impressive' and product failure, has me completely and utterly spooked.

heads up on the 3M safety glasses at Home Depot. I use the tinted ones myself but there are two types. type one uses plastic nubs on the ear piece to hold them in place on the frame, they are junk can't even believe 3M put their name on these. the ear pieces pop out real easy and once they come out will not stay back in. type 2 uses the old reliable screw and they are fine in fact I recommend them. highdesertranger

The motion sensor light I started the thread on isn't working right. I have to see if the batteries are sitting right.

One other thing that I have enjoyed is the lemon juice. That big bottle makes a lot of lemonaid.

The motion sensors batteries came unseated. It works fine now.

I have to go at least once a month to get molasses cookies for mom....

I'm not a big dollar store shopper. When I needed to change my oil, however, I picked up a three pack of funnels and a drain pan. Much cheaper than buying the non-throwaway items at another store.

It's kind of like walking around Harbor Freight and seeing all the low cost stuff. You know some of it's junk, some is usable and some is over priced compared to a grocery. On the other hand I watched my sister send $100 at party city on a Little princess themed birthday party for my great niece. She could have done it there for $20.

I am still S&B but I shop everyday or so at $ tree, and love IT.... Getting used too the Idea of small stuff to fit in places is nice
