Anyone got any good recommendations near Las Vegas? Im heading there from the 17th- the 23rd of August for a pool tournament.

Through google I came up with this place.

Should be a bit cooler up there. Its $21 per night and its an hour outside Vegas. Not too bad.

Just reaching out to the collective, anyone with some experiences to share either at this site, near it, or any other options.

For $16 a night you can stay at Main St Station RV and have showers, laundry, electric and cable (full hook ups). Two blocks from Freemont St and 99cent margaritas across the street. Its clean and cheap if you need to be in the city. (spaces in N.E. corner have shade trees)
Its on the north end of the Strip, bordering near residential, away from the heavier traffic south of there.

I can understand wanting to "live" outside the city but a couple hours commute each day eats gas....plus the difference in fees.

Whichever you choose, have a good time and watch out for that "gambling bug" that sucks the wallet dry ;)

Another recommendation for Main Street Station. The RV park isn't mentioned on the casino website but we've stayed there several times. Check in at the hotel desk.

Good luck at the tournament!

Awesome, they wont give me a hard time cuz its a pickup I hope?

Anyway sounds great and at $16, well the cheapest hotel I could find was like $700 for the 10 days( its actually from the 14th-23rd I got it wrong).

I probably wont be going to bed until 1 or so.... I know you guys arent meteorologists but is the temp bearable at night? Beings theres electric Ill bring a good fan.... How bout noise? I can sleep through alot just curious on your opinions of it.

There is an elevated freeway nearby, but it didn't bother us.
Just register as a truck camper.
We picked a spot and walked across the street to the hotel to sign up.
BTW...don't give casinos your email or phone unless you want tons of spam.
Lots of the casinos have "Players Club" cards that give 5 bucks free slot play. Play slow and take advantage of the free drinks :)

The fan should do ok, especially if you can get one of the shaded spaces.

I spent the last 2 winters in/around Vegas but during the summer I leave the state or I stay in an apartment. There are a ton available for around $170 per week including everything - PM me if you would like more details. Unfortunately they don't take reservations so you just have to show up and see what they have open. That time of year there will be plenty open. I tend to stay at one of the 3 places near Harmon and Paradise.

PM me if you'd like more details on those places or any other Vegas questions.

Red Rock Canyon has a BLM campground just a few miles from the edge of the Vegas metro area, also more expensive than some of the casiono campground options. There are free camping areas on Lake Mead, but you need to pay the entrance fee or have a ATB card ($80/year).

That hot eh? Well, more important than me saving a buck is to get a good nights sleep so I can shoot my best, there is a $25k pot on the line.

Much to consider here, thanks for the info.
