We do this to make our life better, if the telescope is something that makes your life better and is worth the cost to you--do it!!!

How about a C90 on a sturdy camera tripod?
If you know your sky, an altaz mount with handle is the easiest and most versatile cruise.

Out in the dark skies,  even a 60mm will show amazing sights. My favorite is a classic Swift 818, 60mm F9 , fitted with a 1.25 focuser . I'm going have to late down a few scopes too, before we get on the road. Likely the one keeper would be this one.

Okay, now what about my guitar? LOL!
Just kidding ... great input, y'all and very much appreciated!

I've had smaller optics, and it's just not the same as having a bit of a light bucket. I think I'll find a way to take it. And, to echo the "share it" sentiment above, it is really quite cool to be there the first time someone peers into a 40mm Plossl at the Great Nebula or M31. Sharing it is more than half the fun! :)

Keep your favorite scope!!!  This is coming from someone who just bought the best pair of binoculars, a stand, and a star gazing magazine to give her son's family for Christmas!  I am hoping his little daughters will fall in love with the sky while young and maybe have a life long hobby.   I always wanted a telescope but never had the extra money to get involved.  Keep your scope and if we ever run into each other you can show me the stars........It's something you love so I say find the room, and ditch other junk instead.  And if you like other people it will be a great way to meet new friends and show them how beautiful the skies really are!

What stand did you get? I've been looking at them, but can't make up my mind...
