I went out to my van yesterday just to check on something and my dog followed me out. I opened the door, and he happily jumped right in and looked at me like finally Mom lets go. I sure was tempted to just go somewhere, anywhere. He just got down and slowly walked back to the house. I can't wait for spring!

Awww.

We/I have traveled with two dogs, first a Brittany Spaniel and for the past 14+ years, a lab mix.

Both LOVED to go bye-bye in the motor home, (3), and the first RV lived in the back yard between trips.

The Brittany died in 2004, the lab mix is still with me, and in 2022 my daughter and I visited a Medium.

A few minutes into our session, she said “okay, a dog has just appeared between the two of you…a rather large dog, and a family dog, in your family, and one that likes to go on adventures in a vehicle of some sort…did it like to go in the car.”

I said no, that Gus, a very large Brittany Spaniel, hated the car.

Then I remembered the first rv, that lived in the back yard between trips. Gus loved the RV.

When we hadn’t been out in awhile, Gus would get to the end of his 40’ of back yard leash, bark at the motor home, turn to look at us, and bark, like let’s go!!!

When we left on a trip, he would run and jump onside, get up on the couch, and just wriggle with excitement.

A true story, and Gus had been dead for 18 years at the time of this session. I’m not on Facebook or any of that stuff, just a couple of forums, and the only information the Medium had was my first name and cell phone number.

She couldn’t possibly have known about that dog.

You can believe the spirit lives after the body dies, or not, but I am a believer. ☺️

Mediums always look for little clues about people’s lives such as dog hairs on the customers clothing or cat hairs and wedding rings, if your shoes anre new or worn, what style of clothes you wear, do you use hair die, etc.

At some point in a dog owners life the chances are very high they had a dog who loves or loved to ride in a car. 🤔

I would not read to much into that revelation from a medium. It is a well known part of the craft that they look for clues on your person when you walk on the door. It is a way of establishing trust. If you trust small things as an insightful about your life revelation then you trust in those predictions about the future. Basic psychology at work is to quickly establish trust in them as if it were a mystical revelation about your life. You got “hooked”. Am I a skeptic? No I am just a realist about how people can be manipulated. Parents practice it a lot, we look for clues about what our children have been up to while we weren’t looking and hopefully avoid being manipulated by them. 🤣

Well, you are welcome to your opinion, maki2, but I will have mine. ☺️

In this case she described a dog (spirit) who was a rather large dog, a family dog who “liked to go on adventures in a vehicle of some sort”.

Not rides in the car, but “adventures”, not a small lap dog, but described this dog exactly, who had at that time been dead for 18 years,

At any rate, I was responding to the OP story about her dog who loves to go in the van, and mine who also loved it and whose spirit showed up when I visited a Medium.

When I would begin moving things to the front door area, preparing to load the van, my current lab mix would watch all that very carefully, laying nearby and each time I came back inside her tail would wag, like “is it time, is it time???” 😅

They are wonderful traveling companions.

Where do your dogs sit-lay during trips? My skinny black lab mix (50lbs) has an inflatable dog bed (Arcadia trail) in the foyer area - by sliding door. He loves it in the van. I don't think he likes the drive though. He's always on high alert. I try to keeps things secure during the drive but you know how it goes. Window covers lands near him or water jugs or nalgene bottle, fishing pole, towel paper you name it. When I forget to completely close the drawer to catch tha tight close feel so it won't open when driving. Dog gets spooked lol. So he's always on high alert. Not to mention when it's a bumpy ride he can't get comfortable for a nap. He's on the van floor feeling everything.

I am thinking about long drives I'll have him sit shotgun. Dog would love that. The seats are comfortable. I can see him on lay curling or sitting upright with excitement. But I am afraid If brake hard for some apparent reason he might not be prepared and hit the glove area. Do they sell dog harness seatbelts for that purpose. I suppose I can make one. I have a harness already.

Boy does he love it when the van is parked though. He wants to get out and about already lol. He yelps whines tail wagging,

When we found Lily, she was less than a year old, and my husband was still alive, who did the driving.

She liked to ride in my lap in the shotgun seat, until she got so big she would leave bruises on my legs and so I made her a spot on the floor between us.

After the husband died, her preferred spot was the shotgun seat, until the last year or two when she could no longer hoist herself up into it.

The last couple of years, she would pace the floor area while I was driving, occasionally laying down for a minute or two, then back to pacing,

She was exhausted by the time we stopped, usually early afternoon.

They do love it when we are parked, with all the new smells and places to pee.

Your lab mix looks like Lily when she was young. ☺️

He has a really thick(4inch) piece of very firm foam that is between & behind the 2 front seats. It is covered with heavy duty waterproof cloth and then covered with a canvas cover so I can wash everything when it gets to stinky He tried to get up on the bed at first but that was not ok with me. When we stop for the store or whatever he likes to get in the drivers seat. Our first trip out he just about got smashed by something very heavy tipping over so now I am very careful what goes were, so he doesn't get hurt. That and all those things that can move when driving are just to hard to find if they move much. We make sure he has lots of room to stretch out. Oh yea almost forgot under his bed is a throw rug thing over the floor. We discovered the 2 big metal things that used to have chairs attached get hot when driving in hot climates. The rug also can come out and get washed if it gets stinky.
