One is about 7 inches tall, the new one is 10 3/4 inches tall. I had been wasting a lot of space while thinking that a larger shelf would not fit - I'd never investigated it further. The new one fits in so tightly that I had to disassemble it to get it under the bed (and then reassemble it). It couldn't fit better! Another will be added tomorrow.</p><p style="margin: 0px;" align="left"> </p><p style="margin: 0px;" align="left">Notice the "fat guy" bed frame of 2x4s? I was concerned it was not an efficient use of space. Now the space underneath can be utilized better with the taller drawer. It's not just the extra space that helps - it's the extra height of the objects that can go in there.</p><p style="margin: 0px;" align="left"> </p><p style="margin: 0px;" align="left">How much space was reclaimed? 1.658 cubic feet. That's a lot! <img border="0" align="absmiddle" src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif"></p><p style="margin: 0px;" align="left"> </p><p style="margin: 0px;" align="left">Did you notice the unpainted 2x4's? They are for an overhang to accommodate the twin mattress. As I continue to lose weight, the twin mattress will be replaced and the overhang boards will go away...</p><p style="margin: 0px;" align="left"> </p>
