VERY SAD! Years ago this would happen a couple times a year to deer hunters but now CO2 alarms are $10 on Amazon. I always had the little solid ones that changed color in all my enclosed planes.

Detectors are at home depot; lowes pretty much anywhere & everywhere and as youve referenced dirt cheap.
