Well, I have had some time to think lately as my last children are turning 18 soon.  I am still just working hour after hour after hour and not seemingly getting ahead.  I have no time to enjoy life or abilities to get out there and make new friends.  It's this never ending cycle that has spun me into a life of mostly depression.

If you were to ask me about the happiest times in my life (aside from kids of course), I remember camping and traveling.  Being able to see the beauty of this country and experience new things are those memories I cherish. I don't need a lot or want a lot.  I have know for years that a form of tiny living would be for me, and more so I feel camper/RV living is closer to what I really want.  I'm single, and I know that I would love to meet amazing people while out and about.

I want the freedom to be able to experience and enjoy the creative possibilities of living out there on the road. I may have many questions, but seeing that it will be at least 1 year before I can be prepared to hit the road.  Some of the reasoning are that I have no tent or camper/RV at this point, need to build some savings, and get a vehicle (as a bicycle is my primary source of transpiration at this point).

My passions include writing, photography, crafts, graphic design, programming and learning.  I feel that I can continue to learn in all these aspects to offer freelance opportunities while embracing this new life style.

Can't wait to learn more and work towards transitioning to this new life.

Welcome to the group! I think you will find many folks have gone through or going through some version of the same thing. If you can, go to the RTR ( big gathering in Arizona ) in January, you will see every possible method of living and working mobile. My story is different, but I'm going to see how folks are doing it and what might suit me.

Hi there - welcome! I'm also in the process of transitioning to mobile life. I've done it before on a smaller scale, and love the adventure of living on wheels. I have been blessed with a car as of last year (before that I was walking or riding a bicycle) ... so I'm planning to attend the WRTR and RTR this coming January, in my car with a tent. I expect I'll still have my apartment for at least another six months while I'm waiting for the van to materialize in my life, but I'm using this time to do lots of travel exploration in my area, which is North Idaho, and to downsize yet again, because I definitely don't want to have a storage space. I've considered a cargo trailer, if I can start a "real world" business to take with me. Meanwhile.. I'm still working online. I've been doing that many years now and am somewhat burnt out on it.

Both you and OP can work into it over time, don't necessarily need to jump off the deep end in one shot. Can start by camping out, travel to RTR and check out what other people are doing. Who knows, maybe even find something to buy when down in AZ, or at least get a good idea of what would really work for you. Quartzsite is full of used RVs and trailers. People at RTR will probably have various rigs, eg trailers of different sorts, they are selling too. From the sounds of it, there will also be a substantial gathering of other tent campers at RTR.

In regards storage space, one possibility is to pare down the stuff until all you have left will fit in a small 5'x5' unit, so you can still keep some essentials.

best of luck in your new adventures to come and just research some to what type of life on the road you desire. it can easily be done, worse part is getting over the 'brain trauma' of what skipping out on a 'normal society life' is and doing just your own thing as you desire! Not a darn thing wrong with wanting to do just what you want to do :)

I'm looking to change the direction of life too and can relate to your post. Best of luck to us!!

Until I did a summer workcamping at Adventureland I never realized that there were people, who were not retired, make their living as workcampers.
6 months here, 3 months there....
