Hello all:

Checked past threads for this put there was nothing that specifically answers my question. On the Tracer 40 amp controller there is an output provided for the "load." However, I plan to power the loads directly from my four flooded deep cycle battery bank.

The owners manual does not clarify the "difference" between the load terminals on the controller or just connecting the loads to the batteries.

For those of you familiar with Tracer controllers any comments on this would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance . . .

I have a MidNite Kid MPPT 30 amp unit that also has the load terminals.  All my loads are connected to the battery bank, not the load terminals.  Nothing is connected to the load terminals.  I read somewhere that this is used to keep wind generators from over speeding.

This is how I understand it.  If really in doubt, contact the mfg.  YMMV

If this is the correct manual. check pages 14 & 15.

The MPPT Charge Controller is equipped with a programmable dual timer function
for the load terminal. Depending on the user setting, the timer(s)’ purpose is to turn on/off
the load for a selected amount of time during the day, during the night, or manually to the
user’s discretion.

NOTE: The load terminal is commonly used for small lights or other low amp
drawing devices. The terminal is powered by the battery bank connected to the
charge controller. The load will NEVER draw power directly from the solar panels.

Thanks for the help regarding my question. Have been on the Renogy site several times but missed the "downloads" area somehow; probably due to acute brainfart syndrome!

I downloaded all the manuals I will need; they are very comprehensive and easier to read. You are right on with the "load" terminals on the controller; optional. I'll take all my loads directly from the battery as I do not need the various timer functions.

Thanks again for your help.
