Living in a shell & getting a new one.

Well, after about 19,000 miles over 1.5 years my trusty 02 Chevy Astro (bought for $1200) died.
I took it to the upper peninsula, Connecticut, the Great Allegheny National Forest, and drove 200 miles per week to get to school. We dealt with every conceivable type of weather, including every kind of precipitation and temperatures ranging from -45 to 103 F. 
It died about half a mile away from what I call my home port (gf's aunt's garage, where I keep seasonal gear).
After getting it towed there it dawned on me that I had to live in a dead shell while I find a suitable replacement. This was about a month ago. This is a little depressing, but I'm not one to mind. I'm more excited about finding a shorty (I miss standing).
Since becoming stationary like a "normal" person, I've begun my final year of college and thanks to the generosity and understanding of my university I've been nominated and awarded a ridiculous amount of grants. I plan on saving all I can whilst carefully crafting a new home with the experience of the past year and a half.
I'll post pictures of the Astro if anyone is interested, otherwise I'll be posting build updates as winter approaches.

Out of curiosity, how many total miles are on your Astro? I just bought one and I'm kind of nervous now if you say you only got 19,000 miles out of it.

TC, this thread and OP's post are a little old. If you check you'll see his last visit to the forum was on the day he made that post.

OP's Astro was 17 years old and he bought it for only $1200. It obviously already had a large amount of miles on it.
