I have an Eddyline Merlin 13.5' touring kayak which I haul on my Honda CR-V which I sometimes tow with my motor home.

Whitewater kayaking is more dangerous and I have never done it but I have kayaked many miles of flat water by myself without incident. I like to camp out of my kayak in places only accessible by water.

I have 2 kayaks...an 11 footer and a 13 footer. I now have a dog and was wondering if anyone has ever towed a 2nd kayak behind them? I noticed one in a small lake the other day and it gave me an idea of how to haul my pooch with me. Anyone ever tried to pull off something like this?

Rae

The only experience I've had towing with my kayak was towing a lost canoe back to its owner. Towing was fine, steering was tricky. Wind would make it risky. Make sure your dog has a PFD.
I tried it for a short ways when my wife got tuckered out. We were just off shore in the atlantic ( off the coast of Maine) and there were gentle swells and waves. IF we had a proper rope to take up the slack in-between strokes, it may not have been as jerky or difficult. Since it is unlikely that your dog is the size of my wife, ( or at least won't be crying "carry me!") it might be easier for you than is was for me. Then again, Trish wasn't jumping around barking, Soooo, trade offs?

Thanks for the info guys. A PFD is a must for my dog. I'm not sure if she can even swim. She'll wade up to her knees...and she's not that tall!

Rae
